The Communion is a wine dinner experience that aims to make wine more accessible by coupling unique wine and food pairings with in-depth wine knowledge. With The Communion, Cha’s mission is to create connections with one another and bring under-the-radar wine styles and regions to the forefront of the wine world. What started as a pop-up experience in 2017, The Communion has morphed into a sought-after event that’s been held in 5 countries.

The Communion has always been rooted in cultural exchange and will continue to fulfill that mission in its flagship location, established in 2022 in Syracuse, New York. With a vast selection of carefully-curated wines and spirits, The Communion Wine + Spirits shop is a haven for wine and spirits lovers. Visitors can discover drinks from all corners of the globe.

(History, Present, and Future)

We stand behind the growing call for more responsibility in farming and viticultural practices. While our products include a sampling of the entire range, The Communion has a commitment to supporting small family-owned businesses, and as such, you may notice many products are marked as bio or organic. Even if they are not marked as such, they may still fall under that category. The Communion team is always happy to answer questions about farming and winemaking practices to ensure we maintain transparency.

Fans of the dinner experience can continue to catch the experience around the world, to give people from different backgrounds and walks of life a seat at the table.

Meet the Team

  • Meet Kanischa

Favorite Wine + Food Pairing: Right now, I'm loving the Gomen Besiga from Habibas Kitchen. A delicious beef stew with braised collard greens over rice. The rich, earthy flavors in the stew pair well with the peppery and vegetal flavors of Galichets Bourgueil, Cabernet Franc.

    Favorite Cocktail: Gin Gimlet

  • Meet Suzy

Favorite Wine + Food Pairing: My favorite wine right now is the Parussa Giuseppe, Roero 2019 paired with a wild mushroom wood fired pizza.

Favorite Cocktail: The cocktails I like to drink during the winter are usually bourbon based. I like a New York Sour using bourbon which is just bourbon, lemon juice, a tiny bit of simple syrup and a red wine floater. And, if I had to pick a spirit to drink neat, it would be the Rye and Sons 2022 Straight Rye Whiskey.

  • Meet Lauren

Favorite Wine + Food Pairing: I love the brightness and acidity of Osmote Semi Dry Riesling paired with a spicy shrimp Pad See Ew.

Favorite Cocktail: Nothing beats a well-made Old Fashioned on a cold day.
