We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic sales clerk who can serve as a steward of customer satisfaction, product sales and operations for our wine and spirits shop in Syracuse, NY. You should have some level of formal wine qualification (WSET, etc) or come equipped with the equivalent knowledge, enjoy working with people, be curious about all things related to wine and spirits, and bring a can-do attitude to your position. As we are a young business, there may be parts of your job that require you to be creative!

Sales Associate

Primary Duties:

  • Providing efficient and exceptional service to patrons

  • Assisting and perform in-store wine tasting and educational sessions

  • Assisting the store manager with Special Events

  • Maintaining daily stock operations including inventory operations and merchandising assistance, as needed

Requirements: 

  • Positive Customer Service Oriented Attitude is Essential 

  • Self motivated and ability to multitask 

  • Creative and "Out of the box thinking" 

  • Computer and polished writing skills are definite advantages (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, any POS(point of sale) systems)

  • Detailed oriented and strong organizational skills 

Qualifications: 

  • 1 year retail retail experience and/or some level of wine/spirits qualifications (WSET1 or WSET2, etc) or equivalent knowledge. We are happy to reimburse for passing grades on Wine and Spirits certifications

  • Bonus points if you have previous wine/spirits experience

  • Possess passion for quality wines from around the world, with a particular interest in artisanal wines made from lesser-known regions. Wine experience not necessary but you must be curious and willing to learn.

  • Independently motivated and flexible, ability to prioritize, multi-task and work under pressure 

  • Be comfortable “wearing a number of different hats” – multitasking to take care of your daily responsibilities while helping customers 

  • Firm understanding of what makes an outstanding customer experience 

  • Be able and willing to lift up to 50lbs

  • Be computer literate 

  • Must be willing to work weekends and off hours

Salary commensurate with experience. While we have a set range in mind, we are always open for negotiation for the right candidate.
